La Division Surveillance Cantons

• veille à une exécution uniforme, et respectant la loi, de l'impôt fédéral direct, de l’impôt complémentaire ainsi que du remboursement de l'impôt anticipé dans les cantons,
• surveille les travaux de taxation et de perception de l'impôt fédéral direct ainsi que les travaux de remboursement de l'impôt anticipé incombant aux cantons,
• contrôle les décomptes des cantons avec la Confédération concernant l'impôt fédéral direct et le remboursement de l'impôt anticipé.

Dans le cadre de son activité de surveillance, la Division Surveillance Cantons agit selon les principes suivants :

• Elle veille à ce que les contribuables en Suisse bénéficient d'une égalité de traitement en matière d'impôts fédéraux. Elle applique des critères uniformes en matière de surveillance.
• Lors des contrôles et des enquêtes menés à l'échelle nationale sur les taxations entrées en force (surveillance en aval), elle se concentre sur les écarts systématiques par rapport aux prescriptions du droit fédéral (pratique contraire à la loi, erreurs de paramétrage dans le système de taxation, etc.).
• Elle entretient des relations de partenariat avec les cantons et les traite d'égal à égal.
• Elle tient compte du fait que la taxation fiscale est une procédure de masse et prend en considération les ressources disponibles dans les cantons. Elle garde une approche mesurée, reste factuelle et toujours axée sur les solutions.
• Elle soutient les cantons dans leurs activités d'exécution ainsi que dans le domaine de la formation et du perfectionnement des collaborateurs, en collaboration avec la Conférence suisse des impôts (CSI).
